In the US, the White House has launched a public awareness campaign to prevent sexual assaults on campus. The campaign, called It's on us, follows the establishment of a White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault, the "1is2many" public awareness campaign and the provision of information and guidance to help empower and equip student and administrative bodies to better understand and more effectively address sexual assault. A paper on evidence-based strategies for the primary prevention of sexual violence perpetration prepared by the Centers for Disease Control is also available.
Also in the US, a university student is currently carrying her mattress around everywhere she goes as a protest against sexual assault on campus. It represents the weight she carries having been sexually assaulted. Carry That Weight is also a performance piece that is her senior art thesis.
The October 2014 academic journal Trauma Violence and Abuse is a special edition, Improving the Safety of Women on College Campuses: State of the Scientific Literature on the Problem and Response. It includes articles on dating violence, sexual violence and interpersonal violence and future directions for research.
In New Zealand, a 2013 Honours dissertation carried out a preliminary assessment of prevention, response and referral pathways for cases of intimate partner violence and sexual violence at a New Zealand university. it found that "Prevention efforts are occurring at the university, but are limited in focus, occurring sporadically and independently of each other; are limited in reach, with only small proportions of the student population accessing these services; and limited in content, with the main focus of educational approaches being the provision of SV [sexual violence] information to potential victims."
Also in New Zealand, in 2012 the TOAH-NNEST Tauiwi Prevention Project completed a national stocktake of primary prevention activities, excluding kaupapa and tikanga Māori activities.
